Charlie Rubin

Executive ghostwriter for B2B technology leaders

Most ghostwriters write copy. I build your brand.

Who I work with

Founders and C-level operators at Series A–C B2B technology companies who need to establish and maintain a unique personal brand that’s credible to customers, recruits, and investors — and who would rather spend an hour a month at it rather than a dozen.

Why add to the noise? Make a statement that sets you apart. Before I write a word for you, we settle on what you actually believe, who needs to hear it, and how best to say it out loud.

Your vision, three engagement scenarios

  1. A vision matrix

A short document that crystallizes your vision.

  2. A one-off

One deliverable that has to be right — a funding announcement narrative, a keynote, a founder letter, or a category-defining essay.

  3. A consistent voice

Ongoing social media and bylined content.

How I work

I hold an initial, 30–60-minute session with you to capture your voice and unique perspectives, and then I create drafts that are 90–95% exactly what you’re looking for.

Voice capture and initial deliverables

Every personal brand has a unique voice: your thoughts and your way of expressing them. I review your other writing in advance and combine these with our interview so I can write as you would. I also capture your corporate positioning, vet it against competitive research to ensure that your point of view is unique and provocative.

Within a few days, I’ll send you a short matrix that specifies your differentiated point of view along with key topics you’d like to discuss. Once you approve the matrix, I’ll deliver the first document (a post, opinion piece, or other deliverable) within a week.

The time commitment: my process requires about an hour of your time in week one, then 30 minutes a month thereafter.

Proof

I’ve worked with some clients for more than 20 years. They hire me again and again because I deliver the results they want with no BS or drama.

Over more than 20 years, I worked with Charlie across four networking, storage, and AI-driven cybersecurity companies. When I moved into a new role, he was consistently one of my first calls.

Charlie helped founders, CEOs, and CTOs develop distinctive voices, sharpen company positioning, and define new market categories. He has a rare ability to turn complex technology into clear, credible stories that customers, analysts, and markets remember.

I trusted him repeatedly with some of our most important executive and company narratives. You can discuss Charlie’s work with me directly.

Results

Across more than 30 client engagements over 13 years, my strategy and ghostwriting delivered more than $500 million in equity events.

  1. $300M+acquisition, four months after launch

New tech launch to maximize credibility

A new tech firm invented a new way to overcome premature wear and error correction problems in solid state disk drives (SSDs). Within six weeks of our initial meeting, I had created a suite of executive articles and other launch documents, and had booked and supported the analyst and press calls that introduced the company to the market. The company was acquired for more than $300 million within four months.

  2. $30M+acquisition, three months after repositioning

Repositioning a market research firm for acquisition

I was a senior analyst at a tech market research firm with fewer than a dozen employees. It operated under two different generic names, and had limited market traction against larger competitors. Along with creating tech market research reports, I rebranded the firm within a few months as a single entity called Internet Research Group to better leverage sales of its seminal e-commerce report. Within three months, the newly-positioned company was acquired by a larger research firm for more than $30 million.

  3. Forbes CouncilCEO positioned as an industry voice

    Polishing a CEO’s brand

I ghostwrote a series of industry trend pieces for the CEO of an IoT technology firm. The articles made him an important voice on the Forbes Council, expanding the company’s client engagements and bringing the company into new, lucrative markets for its core technology.

How I use AI

I use AI for competitive research, and sometimes to create starter outlines of longer documents. I never use it to write drafts, because the content has to represent your voice, and I would spend more time fixing AI’s bland and repetitive output than I would writing from scratch.

Pricing

Two ways in: a first project to see how I work, or an ongoing engagement once you do.

First or stand-alone project

Questions buyers ask

What does a ghostwriter actually do for an executive?

I write in your voice, under your name. I review your other writing and interview you, then produce the pieces that carry your point of view: posts, bylined articles, opinion pieces, a keynote, a founder letter, a funding announcement narrative. You approve every draft.

How much of my time does this take?

About an hour in week one, for the startup interview, and roughly 30 minutes a month after that. The drafts come back 90–95% of the way there, so approving them is reading, not rewriting.

What does it cost?

The first or stand-alone project is $1,500, which covers the startup interview, the vision matrix, and one deliverable. Ongoing engagements start at $3,500 a month.

Do you use AI to write?

Not for drafts. I use AI for competitive research, and sometimes to create starter outlines of longer documents. Draft writing stays mine, because the content has to represent your voice, and fixing bland AI output takes longer than writing it from scratch.

Who owns the work?

The writing is yours, published under your name. That is what ghostwriting means here: your byline, your point of view, my drafting.

How confidential is it?

Engagements are treated as confidential. The clients quoted on this page agreed to be named, and that is the exception rather than the rule.
